Mineral Therapy is a general term that can be applied to a variety of dissimilar methods. Mobile Naturopath is describing here the discipline based on the works of Dr. Wilhelm Schussler of Germany and Dr Maurice Blackmore of Australia.
Minerals (like vitamins) are essential to the body and have many functions, including:
Structural, electrochemical metabolic and catalytic and still other roles besides.
Even if one’s daily diet consists of food high in minerals, some reasons for mineral deficiency include:
• Massive daily losses through urine, faeces, bile and sweat.
• Metabolic defects (often genetic).
• Diuretics (inc. alcohol, coffee, etc. as well as pharmaceutical diuretics).
• Absorption problems due to poor gastrointestinal function.
• Physical and mental stress.
• Mineral deficiencies themselves can cause further deficiencies by interfering with absorption also.
History
Minerals have been used in the treatment of human illness since at least the sixteenth century.
Dr. Samuel Hahnemannn (1755-1843), physician and founder of the Homoeopathic System extensively investigated the effects of certain minerals. The clinical indications he obtained over a hundred years ago regarding their physiological role, parallels almost identically all the more recent findings of medical research.
Schussler (1822-1898), after analysing the ash left from a burnt corpse, discovered it to consist of twelve mineral salts. Further investigation showed that different organs and parts were made up of different minerals in different apportionments. Schussler concluded that these inorganic constituents are absolutely essential to structural integrity and functional activity and that any disturbance caused by deficiency would constitute disease, which could only be rectified by administering the same mineral salts in small quantities. He began prescribing these salts at very low (homoeopathic) dosages.
In 1938, Australia’s Maurice Blackmore, building upon the work of Schussler, produced his own mineral salts in tablet form which he called ‘Celloids’ Although Blackmore retained the same diagnostics as Schussler, his tablets were made to a secret protocol that used different dosages to Schussler’s. (Blackmore’s tablets are still produced the same way today (by Blackmores) and are used by naturopaths worldwide). Blackmore made some other technical differences also.
Other innovations and improvements have been made in recent times by practitioners such as Dr Leslie Fisher who, among other things has greatly streamlined the prescribing method.
The method currently employed by Mobile Naturopath is based upon a blend of traditional homoeopathic diagnostics, present day knowledge of biochemistry and clinical experience of other practitioners; most notably, Dr Leslie Fisher.
Other main points
Been in use for over 100 years.
Mineral Therapy is perfectly safe because of its natural form and low dose.
Combining Mineral Therapy with conventional drugs does not decrease the effectiveness of either
Virtually free of any precautions, contraindications and side-effects.
Able to treat the patient rather than the disease and treat the cause rather than the symptom. |
